Questions

Can I tow on a normal car licence?

Yes. Since December 2021, anyone with a full car licence (category B) can tow a trailer up to 3,500kg. Both our trailers are well under that.

What car do I need?

A tow bar with a 50mm ball and a 7-pin or 13-pin socket. The cage trailer is light and tows behind almost any car. For the box trailer, your car's braked towing limit needs to cover the trailer plus your load, so check your handbook. Most family cars like a Focus, Golf or Qashqai are fine. Ring us if you're not sure.

Can I take the cage trailer to the tip?

Yes, that's what it's for. It's 6ft × 4ft, which is within the size East Riding allows at its recycling centres. Hull's sites ask for a free waste permit for trailers. Rules can change, so check your council's site rules before you go. The box trailer is too big for council tips.

Who can hire?

Hirers must be aged 25 to 75, have held a full UK licence for at least two years with no more than 6 points, and have motor insurance that covers towing.

What's included in the price?

Damage cover, safety checks before every hire, a free 13-pin adapter if you need one, and help on the phone. The cage trailer also comes with a load cover. There are no booking fees.

How do payment and the deposit work?

You pay for the hire when you book, by debit or credit card. A deposit is held on the same card but not taken: £110 for the cage trailer and £160 for the box trailer. It's released when the trailer comes back clean and undamaged.

Am I covered if something gets damaged?

Yes. Damage cover is included in every hire, with a £250 excess. Your own motor insurance covers third-party liability while towing. Most policies do, but check yours.

Do I need a number plate?

Yes. The trailer must show your car's registration. Halfords and most plate makers do them while you wait. Bring your V5C or proof of entitlement and ID.

Can you deliver it?

Yes. We'll drop the trailer at your address and collect it again for £20 each way within 10 miles of Beverley. Further away, ask us for a price. Handy if your car doesn't have a tow bar.

What if I'm late back or it comes back dirty?

Message us before your return time and we'll extend if the trailer's free. Late returns without notice are charged an extra day. If the trailer needs cleaning, there's a £25 cleaning fee.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

Cancel 7 or more days before collection for a full refund. Between 3 and 6 days, you get 50% back. Within 72 hours, there's no refund. Instead of a refund, you can always take a full credit to use within 6 months. Changing your dates is free if the trailer's available.

Do you do trade rates?

Yes. Gardeners, landscapers, landlords and anyone hiring 3 or more times a month get 10% off. Monthly hire is available too. Give us a ring.

Need a different trailer?

Tell us what you're after. If enough people ask, we'll add it to the fleet.
